Pourtant, des hommes d\u2019affaires ont bel et bien mis sur rail un chemin de fer sur le fleuve Saint-Laurent dans les ann\u00e9es 1880.<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5 data-rm-block-id=\"block-5\"><strong>Le chemin de fer sur la glace du Saint-Laurent fut en service de 1880 \u00e0 1883.<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5 data-rm-block-id=\"block-6\"><strong>L\u2019inauguration eut lieu le 30 janvier 1880 : la ligne reliait le Vieux-Longueuil au quai Hochelaga, pr\u00e8s de la rue Iberville.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Cette entreprise p\u00e9rilleuse, fond\u00e9e par Louis-Ad\u00e9lard S\u00e9n\u00e9cal, suscita l\u2019admiration de plusieurs reporters. Il fallait en effet enlever les rails rapidement, au printemps, avant que la glace fonde. Les incidents furent in\u00e9vitables et, au d\u00e9but du mois de janvier 1881, une locomotive s\u2019enfon\u00e7a sous l\u2019eau.
